Terms & Conditions


Applications to the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy Program (the "Program") may be submitted from April 10, 2015 at 8:00a.m. ET through November 20, 2015 at 11:59p.m. ET (the "Program Period").

ELIGIBILITY: The Program is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are of legal age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence (and at least 18), who are currently third, fourth or fifth grade teachers or district coordinators at an accredited school, are in good standing at their school and have successfully completed any state teaching certifications. Teachers and district coordinators that have participated in any of the previous Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy Programs are not eligible to apply. Immediate family members of the National Science Teachers Association, Math Solutions, ExxonMobil and its subsidiaries are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law. Program is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.

HOW TO ENTER: During the Program Period, visit www.sendmyteacher.com, click on the "Teachers and Grown Ups" tab and follow the links and directions provided to fully complete and submit the application, which includes at least six (6) questions. Each of the questions must be written in English and answered in 300 characters or less. Applications must be received no later than November 20, 2015, 11:59p.m. ET to be considered for the Program. Incomplete applications and applications generated by script, macro or other automated means are void. Limit one (1) application per person and per email address for the entire Program Period. Multiple applications received from any person or email address after the first application received from that person or email address will be void. All applications become the sole property of the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy ("Academy") and will not be returned.

Each application (i) must be true and verifiable, (ii) must be teacher's own original work, (iii) may not have been previously published or submitted, or (iv) must not otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or property rights or any other third party rights. Academy and National Science Teachers Association ("NSTA") reserve the right to disqualify any application that does not comply with these Terms and Conditions.

REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS: The Academy is looking for teachers with different experience levels, teaching philosophies, and school environments to submit applications for the opportunity to attend the Academy. Applications will be considered from those teachers who exhibit potential to develop more fully integrated math and science curriculums, as well as teachers who have established teaching philosophies and curriculums that have engaged students and facilitated learning of math and science. Therefore , applications will be reviewed based on a number of factors established by the NSTA which will include, without limitation, number of years of teaching and experience; teaching philosophy of the applicant and his/her ability to effectively articulate such philosophy; and the applicant's answers to the questions provided on the application. The NSTA reserves the right to consider other factors as well in determining which applicants will be selected to attend the Academy. NSTA's decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to this Program. NSTA and Academy reserves the right to provide fewer than 200 trips to the Academy if, in their sole discretion, they do not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified applications.

After an application is completed, the principal at each school district of each potential selected applicant will be contacted via phone, mail or email and asked to confirm that the potential selected applicant is in good standing. By submitting an application, each applicant agrees that NSTA and Academy may contact his or her principal to verify applicants standing. After which, potential selected applicants will be notified by telephone, mail or email by April 2016 and will be required to execute various agreements including an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release (unless prohibited by law) and a Travel Arrangements Form, which must be returned within ten (10) days of date appearing on notification. Return of any notifications as undeliverable, failure to sign and return requested agreements and documentation within the specified time period, if NSTA or Academy Sponsor are unable to contact a potential selected applicant within a reasonable period or noncompliance with these Terms & Conditions by the any potential selected applicant will result in disqualification and, at Academy's or NSTA's discretion, the trip may be awarded to another applicant.

(200) ACADEMY TRIPS: Up to two hundred (200) selected applicants will receive a trip in July, 2016 to attend the Academy. Trip includes roundtrip transportation from selected applicant's residence to Jersey City, New Jersey, lodging (one (1) room, single occupancy), breakfast, lunch and dinner each day and an intensive professional development program. Travel must be made through Academy's agent, on a carrier of Academy's choice. Trip must be taken on dates specified by Academy or trip will be forfeited and Academy and NSTA will have no further obligation to such selected applicant. No substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent of trip will be provided. All trip details are at Academy's sole discretion. The selected applicants and any activities in which they engage at the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy may be photographed, videotaped and otherwise recorded by Academy (collectively, "Academy Footage"). Academy Footage will be owned by Academy which shall have the right to use, edit, adapt, post, stream, copy and exploit such Academy Footage and all elements embodied therein, including any names and likenesses embodied therein, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised throughout the world, in perpetuity, for advertising, promotional, trade and other purposes without further compensation or notice to, or approval from, selected applicants. Selected applicants must still be employed as teachers in the same capacity at the school at which they were employed at the time of the application in the Summer of 2016 in order to attend Academy.

OWNERSHIP/USE: By submitting an application, each applicant agrees Academy shall own the application submitted and that it and its designees may use applicant's responses and other information provided in any and all media now known or not currently known, throughout the world in perpetuity without compensation, permission or notification to applicant or any third party. If any applicant is selected to attend the Academy, he or she may be asked to assist in obtaining permission to use their school's name and/or logo and to provide written consent, if requested to do so.

GENERAL: By participating, each applicant agrees: (a) to abide by these Terms & Conditions and the decisions of NSTA, which shall be final and binding in all respects relating to this Program; (b) to release, discharge and hold harmless the Academy, NSTA, Weber Shandwick, and each of their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies, and the respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents and representatives of the forgoing (collectively, "Released Parties") from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind to persons, including death, or property resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from applicant's participation in the Program or any Program-related activity or attendance at the Academy (including any travel/activity related thereto); and (c) to the use of his/her name, voice, performance, photograph/video, image and/or likeness for programming, publicity and promotional purposes in any and all media, now or hereafter known, worldwide and on the Internet, and in perpetuity by Academy and their respective designees, without compensation (unless prohibited by law) or additional consents from applicant or any third party and without prior notice, approval or inspection, and to execute specific consent to such use if asked to do so.

Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, stolen, damaged, incomplete, garbled, delayed, undeliverable or misdirected applications. Released Parties are also not responsible for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Program, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Program, the processing of applications, the announcement of the selected applicants or in any Program-related materials. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Program. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to applicants' or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in this Program or downloading materials from or use of the website. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Program or website or who are in violation of these Terms & Conditions, as solely determined by Academy and NSTA, will be disqualified and all associated applications will be void. Should any portion of the Program be, in Sponsor's sole opinion, compromised by virus, worms, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes which, in the sole opinion of the NSTA and Academy, corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play, or submission of applications, NSTA and Academy reserve the right at their sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Program and, if terminated, at its discretion, select the potential selected applicants from all eligible, non-suspect applications received prior to action taken using the judging procedure outlined above. In the event of a dispute regarding applications received from multiple users having the same email account, the authorized subscriber of the email account at the time of entry will be deemed to be the applicant and must comply with these Terms & Conditions. Authorized account subscriber is the natural person who is assigned the e-mail address by the Internet Service Provider (ISP), on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses.
